11th Thomas Ashworth CTC & Liquid Biopsy Symposium

Key Dates

Symposium dates: 27th to 29th October 2025

Welcome

On behalf of the TAS2025 organising committee it is our pleasure to welcome colleagues, friends, and supporters to the 11th Thomas Ashworth CTC & Liquid Biopsy Symposium (TAS2025). The program will begin at 10.30 am on Monday 27th October and close at 2.30. pm on Wednesday 29th October 2025. We thank you for your support and being part of this in-person symposium, and we encourage you to take the opportunity to interact and renew friendships, develop new collaborations, and promote liquid biopsy research and its clinical applications.

Importantly this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Thomas Ashworth Symposium and to celebrate this special milestone we will be holding the Symposium as a 3-day event and honour the ground-breaking research performed by the pioneers of liquid biopsy from Thomas Ashworth to today’s researchers in line with the Symposium theme of “On the Shoulders of Giants”. We will not only look back but also look to the future and the exciting developments that lay ahead for liquid biopsy field. In addition, for the first time we will incorporate a Gala conference dinner as part of the 10-year celebration.

The Symposium has grown from its humble beginnings as a one-day symposium that was held in conjunction with the Medical Oncology Group of Australia (MOGA) to a regular two-day symposium and is now widely recognised both nationally and internationally.

The aim of the Symposium is to enrich our understanding of the clinical application of liquid biopsy and improve patient outcomes, as well as provide critical insights into the metastatic process and application of liquid biopsy in different contexts. Topics that will be explored include circulating tumour cells, exosomes, methylated ctDNA, assay development, early detection, integration of liquid biopsy into clinical trials and precision oncology, treatment selection and monitoring as well as drug resistance monitoring.

An exciting line up of invited keynote speakers who are international leaders in the field will be showcasing their liquid biopsy research. In addition, invited speakers and speakers selected from submitted abstracts from across Australia, New Zealand and Asia will present their latest research. Two panel discussions are included in the program and are designed to highlight patient perspectives and health professional views with the intent to stimulate debate and are a symposium highlight.
