Welcome
On behalf of the TAS2026 organising committee it is our pleasure to welcome colleagues, friends and supporters to the 12th Thomas Ashworth CTC & Liquid Biopsy Symposium (TAS2026) in Perth, WA,
The Symposium will be held over three days from the 4th to the 6th November 2026 at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research located within the QEII Medical Centre precinct in Nedlands. The Institute is a world-class facility and offers a contemporary, purpose-built environment featuring advanced lecture theaters, breakout spaces and expansive communal areas ideal for scientific exchange. The venue is easily accessible, situated just minutes from central Perth and well connected to public transport, making attendance convenient for both local and visiting delegates. We are delighted to have secured this outstanding venue and maintain the goal of affordability with a particular emphasis for students, early-career researchers and full registrant participant at a reasonable fee. Our goal is to ensure broad participation and to create an inclusive, engaging environment for the liquid biopsy community.
The theme for this year’s Symposium is “Pushing the Limits: Technology at the Edge of Discovery”, and it will dive into the groundbreaking technological advances driving liquid biopsy research, such as next generation (NGS) sequencing innovations, ultrasensitive detection platforms, AI-powered biomarker discovery, and emerging multiomics approaches that are reshaping how we understand disease and bringing liquid biopsy closer to routine clinical application.
The aim of the Symposium is to enrich our understanding of the clinical application of liquid biopsy and improve patient outcomes, as well as provide critical insights into the metastatic process and the broader utility of liquid biopsy in different disease settings. Topics that will be explored include circulating tumour cells, exosomes, methylated ctDNA, assay development, early detection, integration of liquid biopsy into clinical trials and precision oncology, treatment selection and monitoring as well as drug resistance monitoring.
An exciting line up of invited keynote speakers who are international leaders in the field will be showcasing their liquid biopsy research. In addition, invited speakers and speakers selected from submitted abstracts from across Australia, New Zealand and Asia will present their latest research. Two panel discussions are included in the program and are designed to highlight patient perspectives and health professional views with the intent to stimulate debate and are a symposium highlight.
